Marengo and Huntley Fire Protection District firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 14600 block of Marengo Road in Huntley after a one-vehicle car vs. culvert and rollover crash. All four occupants of the vehicle were ejected during the crash. The crash was located on Marengo Road between Church Road and Cantering Lane.

Megan E. Hartigan, 20, of Algonquin was transported to Centegra Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock and pronounced dead after arrival. Three other victims were transported to Sherman Hospital in Elgin and Provena Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin. Jonathan J. Lombard, 21, of Huntley and Ryan W. Hanks, 18, of Huntley, were listed in critical condition Wednesday. A female juvenile was also injured, but her name and medical condition have not been released.

Marengo FPD was dispatched first to the scene. Huntley was dispatched about 10:58 p.m. Firefighter/paramedics from Marengo and possibly Union were already on the scene when Huntley arrived. Flight for Life was unable to fly — presumably because of foggy weather and low visibility.

After initial investigation, police do not know who was driving. Police are urging any witnesses to the crash to call McHenry County Sheriff’s police at 815-338-2144.
