Arlington Heights police responded Friday to a report of a burglary in the 800 block of North Chestnut Avenue. Police received a report that and unknown offender or offenders broke a front window and entered the home. The unknown offender(s) broke a front door window, reached in to unlock the door, entered the home and removed items from the master bedroom — a brown wooden jewelry box containing an unknown (at time of report) amount of jewelry, jewelry from a second box and jewelry from a dresser drawer. A gold Rolex watch and diamond stud earrings were among the items missing.

A recent burglary attempt also occurred in the 1100 block of North Chestnut Avenue on Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Residents were away from their house for about 90 minutes and returned to find a side door with signs of tampering. The residents waited outside while police checked the house to make sure it was clear of offenders. A door jamb, casing and lock were all damaged.
