An eighteen-year-old woman, who was turned away at the Congress Theater on New Year’s Eve because she didn’t have an ID around 9:10 p.m., was later found by neighborhood residents unconscious and bleeding on a sidewalk in the 2100 block of North Rockwell Street. The woman’s handbag was found in a driveway.

A concert worker witnessed that the woman was approached by six young men as the vicim sat down on a street corner near the Congress Theater. She was discovered by the neighborhood residents about 20 minutes later. Security officers from the concert were able to detain three people. Three others fled.

The woman, who was hoping to see a concert by British DJ “Rusko”, was identified as a Highland Park resident Sunday afternoon.

Video surveillance images from a nearby restaurant in the Logan Square neighborhood are being investigated for information that may help in an arrest of the offender or offenders.
