Chicago Gets 5th Latest First Snow, Causing Accidents and Traffic Problems: MyFoxCHICAGO.com

Snowfall very early this morning was the fifth-latest measurable first snowfall in Chicagoland — tied with a late snowfall on December 9, 1948. The current record latest first snowfall 0.1″ or greater is held December 16, 1965 when 0.3 inch of snow was measured. The average first snowfall is November 21. This winter season could still beat or tie a late first snowfall record. The latest first snowfall record greater than 1.0 inch is held on January 17, 1899.

Last year Chicagoland had already accumulated over 5 inches of snow.
