Townhouse Fire Near Fireplace on Happfield Drive Extinguished in Under 10 Minutes

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:07 p.m. Friday to a report of a fire in a furnace room or fireplace in the 500 block of Happfield Drive. Police arrived first and reported a working fire. Firefighters had the fire extinguished by 10:15 p.m. Heavy smoke was reported on the inside of the residence.

One civilian was checked for smoke inhalation, and a second rescue-ambulance was requested at the scene. No word on whether anyone was transported to the hospital.

Firefighters from Buffalo Grove and Long Grove assisted Arlington Heights firefighters.
