Palatine police responded about 5:14 a.m. Sunday to a report of a disturbance in the 700 block of East Independence. Police received a report of glass breaking, and a relative trying to get into a residential unit. Police arrived and discovered criminal damage to property with a glass window or door broken. The offender apparently broke the glass with a hammer and fled the scene before police arrived. Police possibly re-classified the case to criminal damage to property and home invasion.

Police also received a report about 6:58 a.m. of a suspicious incident in the 700 block of East Pennsylvania Drive about one block away. A resident found a broken glass rear window with an apparent blood trail into the apartment.

Palatine police had one male in custody from the Pennsylvania Drive address by about 7:20 a.m. Sunday. Police called Palatine firefighter/paramedics check the subject at the Palatine Police Department Headquarters.
