High Winds Bring Down Power Lines Across Northwest Highway, Palatine

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:00 p.m. Sunday to Harris Bank, 800 East Northwest Highway to a report of downed power. Some arcing was reported, but firefighters determined there was no fire hazard. Police blocked the southbound lanes of Northwest Highway, just north of Rohlwing Road.

Winds were steady at 27.6 mph and gusting to 39.1 mph at 2:51 p.m. DCT.
