The city of St. Louis is celebrating another World Series championship as the Cardinals beat the Texas Rangers 6-2 in Game 7 Friday night. Cards third baseman David Freese was named the Series MVP as Chris Carpenter got the win.

Players and fans stayed and partied through the night at Busch Stadium.

The St. Louis Cardinals have played in 18 World Championship Games — representing the National League. The Cardinals have won 11 championships, which is the second-most among Major League teams.

The New York Yankees of the American League have played in 40 of the 105 Series through 2009 and have won 27 World Series championships, the most of any Major League franchise. The Yankees have also lost more World Series Game (13) than any other club.

Rangers Manager Ron Washington explains you can’t let opportunity get away. What he’ll remember most is being so close to winning it in Game 6, and then losing. Last year the Texas Ranger lost the World Series Championship to the San Francisco Giants.
