British Scientists’ Claim Super Beneforte Broccoli Protect Against Heart Disease

#ad▼

Fruit and vegetables are good for general health, but now British scientists have developed a broccoli they claim may protect us against heart disease and several cancers.

British scientists have created a super breed of broccoli that contains almost three times the normal amount of glucoraphanin – a plant nutrient thought to prevent heart disease by metabolizing fat in the body.

Glucoraphanin is a glucosinolate found in broccoli and cauliflower, particularly in young sprouts. When broccoli or cauliflower are consumed, the enzyme myrosinase transforms glucoraphanin into sulforaphane which has potential health benefits.

Sulforaphane is an organosulfur compound that exhibits anticancer, antidiabetic, and antimicrobial properties in experimental models. Sulforaphane is also obtain from Brussels sprouts or cabbages.

VIDEO from Beneforte: Ingredients for this recipe: one bag of Beneforté broccoli, 1 flat bread (any whole wheat flatbread will work), ½ package of Italian sausage, 1 diced roasted red bell pepper, 5 ounces or half a package of sliced mushrooms, 2 tablespoons pesto, and 2 tablespoons parmesan.
