Dozens of police in riot gear and hundreds of protesters in support of the Occupy Wall Street movement clashed in downtown Oakland Tuesday, with authorities using tear gas to respond to demonstrators’ repeated agitations.

Protester crowds in Oakland diminished with each volley of tear gas — about five volleys of tear gas in three hours.

Police established a presence in a plaza near Oakland City Hall where a pre-dawn raid Tuesday dispersed an encampment of Occupy Wall Street protesters that had dominated the area for more than two weeks.

Police warned demonstrators that the Occupy Wall Street camps were illegal and that they would be arrested.

Protestors shouted “Who are you protecting” while demonstrators were arrested.

Police were accused of using flash bang tear gas canisters, but police claim the explosions were caused by firecrackers thrown by demonstrators. A YouTube channel publisher/writer in4mant1 claims a woman was knocked unconscious by a concussion grenade. Protestors were also throwing rocks and bottles at police. Injuries to police officers and protestors were reported.

Police have clashed with hundreds of demonstrators in the U.S. city of Oakland.

Hundreds marched to show their anger at police clearing an “Occupy Wall Street” camp. Officers shot several rounds of tear gas into the crowd, who were trying to reclaim their position within the city center. Earlier on Tuesday, 85 people were arrested, after they refused to take down their tents.

An agitator tells police they’ve been given permission by other police officers to stay behind “the lines” and then turns around and says “f&$ing a$$&%#. Next he says “this is going to be f&$ing awesome.”

Interviewer repeatedly asks where the press officer is located. Police were criticized by demonstrators for “following orders” and acting like sheep.
