Oakland Low Speed Amtrak Train Collision Causes Minor Injuries to 17 Passengers

An Amtrak train traveling 15 to 20 mph crashed into a train unloading passengers at an Oakland, California, station, injuring 17 people, Amtrak and fire officials said.

Service at an Oakland train station was restored Thursday morning and an investigation was under way after an Amtrak train crashed into another train that was unloading passengers, and injured 17 people, about 10 p.m.

Oakland Fire Department was primary rescue agency, and all injuries were considered minor and non-life-threatening.
