Small Explosion, Possibly Natural Gas-Related at Rosati’s on West Dundee, Palatine

Palatine police and firefighters/paramedics responded about 3:22 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a woman that was burned near the oven at Rosati’s Pizza, 225 West Dundee Road. When firefighters arrived they discovered a small explosion had occurred, and found a second victim. Firefighters also discovered light smoke in the building.

Firefighters upped the alarm to include more firefighters and equipment and a second rescue-ambulance from Arlington Heights Fire Department.

The situation was secured immediately, but firefighters investigating any other possible hazards that may be present at the building. Natural gas was shut off to the building for about one hour. Gas energy service was returned to other business tenants in the same building as Rosati’s. Gas service to Rosati’s remained disconnected for a longer period.
