Eduard Guillen-Tellez Identified as Victim of Stabbing, Homicide on Ports O’ Call Drive, Palatine

Palatine police responded about 8:08 p.m. Labor Day to a report of a stabbing and shooting in the 1300 block of East Ports O’ Call Drive in Palatine. The identity of a stabbing victim has been released as Eduard Guillen-Tellez, of the 1300 block of Baldwin Court. Apparently no gunshot wounds existed. ‘Shots fired’ was reported before police arrived, but there is no confirmation of any actual shots were fired.

The offender was believed to be in the area of the crime scene immediately after police arrived and found Eduard Guillen-Tellez on the ground bleeding. The offender was described as a male/Hispanic with short curly hair, a short beard, wearing a gray sweatshirt, a black and brown scarf, blue pants, white shoes, and carrying a satchel style backpack on his right side.


Two suspects were in custody with Palatine police at about 8:47 p.m. Monday night. Later Tuesday Palatine police reported they have one suspect in custody.

Eduardo Guillen-Tellez was transported to Northwest Community Hospital with life-threatening injuries from gunshot wounds and stab wounds. He was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.

Palatine police also responded about 9:19 p.m. Monday night to a report of group of about 10 subjects yelling in a parking lot in the 1300 block of North Baldwin Court. The subjects dispersed before police arrived.

The Major Case Assistance Team was called in overnight to investigate and assist the Palatine Police Department.

Residents of the building where the homicide occurred were allowed back in their apartment building, but part of the common areas were restricted after crime and during the processing of the crime scene.

The stabbing apparently occurred during an argument over $40 that the victim wanted refunded after the suspect sold him a broken television.
