Underground Rescue at Buffalo Grove Rd and LaSalle Ln

Buffalo Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:45 a.m. to a report of a man that fell about eight feet into a hole near the intersection of Buffalo Grove Buffalo Grove Road and LaSalle Lane. Rescuers received a report that the incident was on the south side of LaSalle Lane at Buffalo Grove. Apparently a construction worker fell in a confined space involving water treatment or water reclamation.

Special Rescue Team members and firefighter/paramedics were in the vault at 11:55 a.m. and rescued a man, who worked for the Northwest Water Commission, out of the vault using a Stokes basket attached to the end of an aerial ladder about 12:05 p.m. Wednesday.

The man was transported to a local hospital.
