Motorcyclist Justin McBride, 29, of Lake Villa was killed in a motorcycle accident Saturday night at Route 59 and Wilson Road near Gavin Central School when a 33-year-old woman turned her vehicle left in front of the motorcycle. McBride’s 9-year-old daughter, who was riding on the back of the motorcycle, was critically injured, according to police.
Justin McBride and his daughter were traveling eastbound on Route 59 at about 6:34 p.m. when a 33-year-old Lake Villa woman, driving her vehicle westbound, made a left turn toward southbound Wilson Road in front of the motorcycle.
McBride was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. McBride’s daughter was wearing a helmet, but still suffered severe head injuries, and was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in critical condition. She was then airlifted to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General where she remained in intensive care, but stable condition Sunday night.
Police are investigating the crash.
