Arlington Heights police responded about 1:13 a.m. to a burglary alarm at a salon in the 100 block of West Rand Road. Police arrived and discovered a shattered back door and signs of a burglary at the business.

A resident near Crestwood Drive and Burke Drive also reported hearing an audible alarm west of the residence during the same time frame. Police checked the area and determined the alarm was heard from the salon.

Arlington Heights police are investigating. The burglary is the fourth reported salon burglary since late July 2011. On Tuesday July 26, 2011 the front glass door or window was shattered at a salon in the 1100 block of South Arlington Heights Road — discovered when staff or owners arrived for work.

A salon was burglarized in the 300 block of East Palatine Road and the 1800 block of North Arlington Heights Road overnight Sunday-to-Monday on August 1, 2011.
