If everything goes as planned for the Argent Group, the former Sheraton Chicago Northwest will become luxury apartments, with new construction including an extended stay hotel, about 70,000 to 140,000 square feet of retail space, a sit-down restaurant, and eventually more apartments and more hotel rooms on the 20 acres or property. New construction would match the style of Arlington Park.

The future of the former Coco Key water park has not been determined, but the developers are hoping to find an operator for the $25 million water park. In the former situation, Mark Matthews, representing the Argent Group developers, stated the water park was a bad idea, since it was adjacent to a hotel that primarily catered to corporate clients.

The former hotel was purchase in early June 2011 after it closed in December 2009. The building opened as The Arlington Park Towers in 1969, became a Hilton in 1974, and had a name-change to the Woodfield Hilton in 1985. In 1993 the hotel was sold at a foreclosure sale, and in 1996, Starwood Hotels and Resports Worldwide Inc., the parent company of Sheraton took over the hotel, which becamse the Sheraton Chicago Northwest. The hotel was owned by Sheraton Chicago Northwest when it closed in December 2009.

The Argent Group (argentgrp.com), founded in 1985, has recently built Chicago developments at 1840 Noth Clybourn, Market Square at Clybourn and Wayne Avenue in Chicago, Clybourn Commons at Clybourn and Cortland Avenues, and The Foundry Shopping Center at Clybourn and Lakewood Avenues. Argent Group corporate headquarters is in Bloomingdale, Illinois.
