Michigan State police from the nearby Paw Paw post were called to the Greenwoods Camp for Boys in Decatur, Michigan just after 10 p.m. Wednesday for missing camper, Jacob Waxberg, 15, who counselors feared may have drowned.
Jacob Waxberg was unconscious and unresponsive when taken by ambulance to Bronson Lakeview Hospital in Paw Paw, where he was pronounced dead.

According to camp officials, about 15 campers were swimming to escape the heat Wednesday night when Jacob Waxberg appeared distressed before descending in 10 to 12 feet of water.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
