Daniel Ascencio Charged Charged with Criminal Trespass to Motor Vehicle After Fatal Prospect Heights Crash

Daniel Ascencio, 17, has been charged with criminal trespass to a motor vehicle after admitting to police he and three other teens went “car hopping” while drinking alcohol, and speeding through red lights at up to 90 mph in a 2002 Honda Accord that he learned was stolen after he entered the front passenger seat of the car. An apparently drunk female driver, Elibeth Solis, 16, and two other passengers — Freddy Najera, 16, and Jessica Ferrer, 15, in the back seat — were killed by major traumatic injuries from the impact with a large tree near Camp McDonald Road and Maple Avenue.

Toxicology results are expect in weeks and the crash is still under investigation.
