WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS…SOME MAY PRODUCE:

DAMAGING WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.
NICKLE SIZED HAIL.
CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.
BRIEF TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS…WITH LOCALIZED FLOODING.

AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

THE FIRST PHASE OF THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE THIS MORNING
IMPACTING THE ENTIRE OUTLOOK AREA.
THE SECOND PHASE OF CONVECTION WILL BE FOCUSED THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH TONIGHT FOR AREAS ALONG AND NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80
ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

Thunderstorms will hit Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, Elk Grove Village and Palatine first. Thunderstorms should arrive in Arlington Heights between 7:00 am. and 7:30 a.m., and could last for much of the morning. The entire image covers southwest Chicago and suburbs, Danville, Decatur, Peoria, Quad Cities and just west of Rockford. The heaviest storms indicated by radar were over I-57 at 6:30 a.m. Monday — extending from the southern tip of Cook County.

The convective outlook for today places far western Illinois in a 2% risk area for tornadoes. Eastern Nebraska, northern Kansas and western Iowa are in a 5% risk area. Southwestern Nebraska is in a 10% risk area..
