Naperville police and firefighter/paramedics responded Saturday, June 30, 2018 about 10:22 p.m. to a car vs motorcycle crash at 75th Street and Modaff Road. First responders arrived to find a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 25 year-old Christopher Vandervalk of Lisle and a Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 30-year-old woman from Naperville. Vandervalk and his passenger, a 24-year-old female out of Darien, were transported by Naperville firefighter/paramedics from the scene with serious injuries.

Due to the nature of the incident, members of the Naperville Traffic Unit trained in accident investigation and reconstruction responded to the scene to investigate the accident. During the course of the initial investigation, a portion of the intersection of 75th Street and Modaff Road was closed and rerouted until approximately 4 a.m. Naperville Fire Station 8 is located just south of the intersection on Modaff Road.

The initial investigation indicates that Vandervalk was traveling eastbound on 75th Street approaching Modaff Road when he entered the intersection on a red light, striking the Volkswagen, which was turning left onto southbound Modaff Road from westbound 75th Street.
