There is a possibility of isolated, scattered showers and thunderstorms developing in Chicagoland between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Warm, humid air will return to Chicagoland. If any storms develop in Chicagoland, they should dissipate by early evening.
Outside of Cook County and Lake County in Illinois, a heat advisory from noon-7:00 pm Wednesday is activated with heat indices approaching 105°F. Cook County and Lake County are forecast to have a limited exposure to heat extremes due to a lake breeze, but a Heat Index high of 98°F is forecast for 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Storms Wednesday are mostly likely between 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Wednesday July 4, 2018, but are possible all the way through midnight Thursday/Friday. Brief, heavy downpours are more likely tomorrow, but severe weather is not likely tonight or tomorrow. The nearest severe weather is forecast in the Dakotas, western Minnesota, northwest Nebraska and eastern Wyoming.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) showed thunderstorms developing near Peoria about 4:30 p.m., but they were moving southeast to northwest and have dissipated at 5:10 p.m.
