Bronx Zoo Cobra Found Inside the Reptile House
A poisonous Egyptian cobra that disappeared from a Bronx Zoo exhibit was found Thursday after nearly a week on the lam, zoo officials said. The 24-inch snake was found in the reptile house, said zoo director Jim Breheny.
The key strategy in recovering the snake was patience. The snake was found in a non-public area.
The 20-inch long poisonous Egyptian cobra had been missing from an enclosure outside public view at the Bronx Zoo since last Friday. The Reptile House where it belongs remained closed Sunday as a precaution while zoo workers searched for the missing reptile.

Cobras are not afraid of humans and are known to enter houses. They are known to live in grasslands and areas with some water. They are also reported to be swimmers.
Egyptian cobras can grow up to eight feet long.
