Palatine police responded about 12:55 p.m. Friday to the area of 1539 North Winslowe for a report of 15-20 ‘kids fighting’ and, later, a report of ’20 kids’ walking toward McDonalds along Rand Road. The group was reported to be a mix of males and females about 13-15 years-old.

Possibly part of the same gang, the roving gang hit a victim’s vehicle with rocks, causing criminal damage to the vehicle at Wendy’s, 1142 East Dundee Road at about 1:00 p.m. The description of the offenders included two male/white subjects and a male/black. Some were wearing black jackets. Next, the gang was reported to be running toward Denny’s at Rand Road and Dundee Road.

With several callers reporting trouble with the gang, a report came in that one of the subjects had a bat and that one subject had knives. A report also came in that three male/blacks were hiding in the KFC.

Some of the offenders may have left in a silver minivan. No injuries reported.

No information available on any arrests or any subjects in custody.
