Arcade Fire wins best album of the year at Grammys, beating out Eminem, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry. But it was the performances that ruled the night.

Last night, the 53rd Grammy music awards …

The first 15 minutes of the Grammy’s were dedicated to Arethra Franklin. Unfortunately Christina Aguilera had another slip, but this time it was her footing on stage.

Eminem lost in all categories, but managed to get at least two F-bombs past the CBS censors during a live performance. Its the third time Eminem has lost the Best Album trophy. If you’ve never heard Eminem swear before, you can hear it here (Medeiaite CBS Asleep At The Switch? Eminem Gets F-Bomb Past Grammy Censors).

Huge Upset …
Esperanza Spalding, a 26-year-old jazz star from Oregon, beat 16-year-old Canadian pop sensation, heart-throb Justin Bieber to win best new act.

Lady Gaga hatched out of an egg with horns growing out of her shoulders, but she was out Gaga’d by a performance by Gwyneth Paltrow and the Muppets.

Muse won best rock album. After 15 years performing, the English rock band Muse finally got recognition with three rather important nominations: Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group, Best Rock Song (“Resistance”), and Best Rock Album (“The Resistance”). Muse lost out to Neil Young for Best Rock Song (“Angry World”) and to The Black Keys for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group (“Tighten Up”), but they won Best Rock Album for “The Resistance”, the album containing “The Uprising” another of Muse’s current most popular songs.
