Arlington Heights police responded just before 4:30 p.m. Saturday to a report of a ruse scam attempt in the 400 block of South Dwyer Avenue. Police received a report that a man claimed he worked for the Village of Arlington Heights and that he was working on a sewer problem. He demanded that he enter the resident’s house and even pushed his way in. The offender then left the area in a white SUV.

There happened to be two police units in the area, and a vehicle was stopped at Yale Avenue and Elm Street. Arlington Heights police were issuing a citation for that driver at about 4:45 p.m. It is unknown if the vehicle was related to the ruse/scam case.

At least one subject was arrested for reckless conduct and transported in custody to Arlington Heights police headquarters.

Lake Zurich police responded to a report earlier Saturday afternoon at 2:08 p.m. that two male subjects arrived at a home in the 300 block of Fairway Road and claimed that they worked for the Village of Lake Zurich. The men convinced a woman to allow them inside her residence. While posing as workers they took $77.
