Arlington Heights police received a report about 5:30 PM Sunday of two vehicles drag racing on East Davis Street between Arlington Heights Road and the railroad crossing at Arthur Avenue. Police received a report that two vehicles were on both sides of the road eastbound on Davis Street at about 5:30 p.m. One of the vehicles was a SAAB with an Illinois license plate of X30 6793. The SAAB stopped at the light, then turned left at the railroad crossing and headed eastbound on Northwest Highway toward Mount Prospect. The other vehicle that was not identified, turned right and headed southbound on Arthur Avenue.
The lead car in the drag race was estimated to be traveling in excess of 80 mph.
In addition to Arlington Heights police officers, Mount Prospect Police Department was alerted to be on the lookout for the SAAB.
