Memorial Park at Fremont and Chestnut To Be Rededicated Saturday Nov. 8

Memorial Park, the oldest park in Arlington Heights, the terminus of the annual Memorial Day Parade route and the only Arlington Heights park that honors active military personnel and veterans, will be rededicated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008.

The Arlington Heights Community Band will play inspiring marches for 30 minutes before the start, and the Arlingtones, a men’s a cappella group, will sing the national anthem.

Memorial Park, located at Fremont and Chestnut streets, has alway served as a memorial to veterans with historic monuments representing the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War the Vietnam War, and the Gulf War and current conflicts.

A central plaza area with a five-point star features a circular, brick seating wall, new landscaping, plaques and monuments, and bricks with engravings of the names of local military personnel and veterans.
