Hit-and-Run Mitsubishi Eclipse Crashes Into Light Pole, 1 in Custody

Wheeling police responded about 5:40 AM Tuesday to a report of a hit-and-run car vs. light pole in the 300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. Police received a report that a car hit a light pole and took off. The vehicle was last seen headed southbound on Milwaukee Avenue near Edgewood.

Wheeling police arrived and found a front bumper wih a license plate attached. The vehicle involved in the crash was described as a red Mitsubishi Eclipse, which matched the bumper.

Wires attached to the downed pole were live. The area was secured for safety by the Wheeling Fire Department.

About 6:50 a.m. Wheeling police found the red Mitsubishi in a parking lot at the Westin Chicago North Shore, 601 North Milwaukee Avenue. A few minutes later the police had a female in custody. Wheeling police are investigating.
