UPDATE: Electric power failures plagued southern Arlington Heights Sunday as power came back on, and then failed in the same area. Police were busy putting up temporary stop signs, taking them down and then returning to put them back up.

From Kankakee to the Wisconsin state line of northeastern Illinois, about 4,500 customers were without power.

High winds with this weekend’s Winter Storm have apparently caused power outages Sunday. Numerous traffic lights were out about 8:00 a.m. Sunday at Arlington Heights Road and White Oak, Golf Road and Arlington Heights Road, Central Road and Kirchhoff Road, Central and Fernandez Avenue. Police also reported power out along Golf Road. Com Ed reported 785 customers without power on the south side of Arlington Heights. The power was not expected to be repaired before 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Some lines were arcing in the area.
