Woman Drops Glasses, Hits Wall Near Rt. 53 & Palatine Rd. in One-Car Crash — Continues Driving

Scene where a wrecked Oldsmobile came to a stop at Winston Drive just north of Palatine Road.

Police and firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights and Palatine responded to a one-car crash that occurred near the Route 53-Palatine Road interchange about 7:00 a.m. Friday. The woman continued driving her severely damaged red Oldsmobile down an expressway exit ramp and drove it westbound to Winston Drive. An Arlington Heights police officer responding to Palatine Road and Route 53 corrected his response to Winston Drive, just north of Palatine Road where he discovered the wrecked car. The car was driven over one-half mile with severe front end damage and with at least a one-half-obscured windshield.

Arlington Heights firefighters were also responding to a report of a car fire, which was the same call. Palatine firefighter/paramedics returned Arlington Heights firefighters/paramedics.

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics managed the crash scene.

One female was injured in the crash with minor injuries. She was transported to Northwest Community Hospital.

Illinois State police are investigating, and were on the scene at Winston Drive, since the crash occurred on Route 53.
