Walker Endorsed By League of Conservation Voters

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL – The Illinois League of Conservation Voters (ILCV), a statewide, nonpartisan organization dedicated full-time to electing environment-friendly candidates to office, recently endorsed Mark Walker to become the next State Representative for the 66th District.

“Environmental issues should not be a partisan issue and we have a great mix of Republicans and Democrats who have promised to actively support environmental legislation,” Mike Braun, ILCV Board member, said in statement.

ILCV is committed to raising awareness about environmental issues affecting Illinois residents.  Founded in 2004 with the mission of forging a better environment one candidate at a time, ILCS has played a significant role in several political races – one that continues to grow and strengthen each day.  ILCV is at the forefront of finding solutions and supporting candidates willing to implement those solutions and is one of the strongest advocates for the environment in the state.

“I’m proud that the League of Conservation Voters has recognized my candidacy as one that will help safeguard the environment and protect our air, water and land from pollution,” Walker said.  “While the cost of fuel rises, Big Oil pulls in multi-billion dollar profits. We need to end Big Oil’s tax breaks and force them to pay a windfall profits tax.  In the meantime, I will forcefully advocate for policies that encourage the development and use of alternative energy to reduce our foreign oil dependence.”

Walker is also pushing the state to begin regular testing of public drinking water supplies to ensure they are free of contaminants.  Recent studies have shown that supplies are frequently contaminated with pesticides, fertilizers and discarded prescription medications that could have adverse affects on adults’ health and children’s development.

ILCV’s guiding philosophy is to embrace long-term comprehensive solutions that will promote environmental, and thus economic and social, sustainability.

The 66th District includes portions of Elk Grove Village, Mt. prospect, Arlington Hts., Des Plaines, Rolling Meadows and Schaumburg.
