Arthur E. Tidd, World War II Veteran, Killed After Hit By Car on Algonguin Road

Arthur E. Tidd, 86, was hit by a westbound 2003 Jeep Wrangler in the westbound curb lane on Algonquin Road just east of Market Place Drive just before 8:20 p.m. Saturday, as he was heading home to his house in Arlington Heights. The World War II veteran had just left a visit with friends at a nearby McDonald’s when apparently he was hit on Algonquin Road, crossing from the south side of the four-lane roadway to the northside (where the impact occurred). Rolling Meadows Fire Department paramedics responded to the 9-1-1 call and transported Arthur Tidd to Northwest Community Hospital, where he died 9:05 a.m. Sunday. Arlington Heights Police and Rolling Meadows Police also responded.

A Cook County medical examiner’s office autopsy is expected today. As of today, the accident is still under investigation by the Arlington Heights Police Department, and no uninvolved witnesses to the accident have contacted the police.
