Chicago police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:30 AM Saturday to a report of rear porches on fire at a two-and-a-half story brick building at 6950 South Wabash. Firefighters arrived and immediately rescued two people from the burning buildings. In all, six people were transported to hospitals. Three of the victims were children with life threatening injuries. The other victims were two adults and another child. One other adult also suffered life-threatening injuries.

Christand Densmore, 5, was pronounced dead at 12:45 a.m. at Level I Trauma Center Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The children with life-threatening injuries — a male and female between the ages of 2 and 4 years-old — were transported with life threatening injuries to Level I Pediatric Trauma Center University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital.

A female approximately 7 years-old was transported to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center.

One adult female was transported to Saint Bernard Hospital and one woman was transported in critical condition to University of Chicago Hospitals. One of the women is known to be in her 60s, and she was later transferred to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

The porches were well involved with fire, and the nature of the fire prompted an investigation. The second floor of the building had recently been vacated.

Chicago Bomb and Arson was called to the scene.
