Halloween Candy Tampering in Schaumburg Turns Out to Be Self-Administered Hoax

#ad▼

Schaumburg police arrested a 16-year-old boy on a felony count of disorderly conduct after police detectives discovered he stuck a needle into his own Snickers bar and then told his family he received the candy while trick-or-treating. His father acted on the report from his son, and called Schaumburg police.

The second call came from a female neighbor that knows the family, but she never came forward with further details. Police, via news media reports, asked the unknown complainant to come forward, but she did not come forward.
