Northbrook police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:19 AM Saturday May 5, 2018 to a report of a rollover crash at 42.131716, -87.785186 (Edens Expressway and MM 30 Northbrook, Il). Illinois State Police and Northbrook police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a rollover crash with injuries, entrapment, and two people ejected. There was also a report that one vehicle was smashed into the barrier wall, and one vehicle was on its roof.
Police on arrival reported one vehicle was on fire, but the fire was out.
Battalion 11, on the way to the scene, reported one vehicle on its roof and one vehicle into the wall.
The first firefighter/paramedic crew on arrival by 5:26 a.m. reported an ejected person against the barrier in the southbound lanes. A second ejected patient was also reported a few minutes later — possibly in the northbound lanes.
A total of four patients were classified Code Red.
One ejected patient was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, and one ejected patient was transported to Level I Trauma Center Evanston Hospital.
Northfield Ambulance 29 blocked by people riding the shoulder on the northbound Edens Expressway, and another ambulance was dispatched from the north.
Extrication of the trapped patient was complete by 5:47 a.m.
