Large Fight Involving Large Knife or Machete Near Algonquin and Weber, Then Second Fight — 1 Arrested

Rolling Meadows and Arlington Heights police responded about 11:55 p.m. Thursday to report of a large fight in the area of Algonquin Road and Weber Drive. Rolling Meadows police were specifically responding to the 2300 block of Algonquin Parkway for a report of six or seven subject fighting with one armed with a large knife or machete. All subjects scattered and fled just before police arrived. Seven police squads from Rolling Meadows police responded to the scene and perimeter, while three Arlington Heights police squads covered the perimeter of the scene.

About 2:30 a.m. Friday another fight erupted and the second time police had a victim and a suspect. Police and firefighter/paramedics responded to Mariscos in the 2200 block of Algonquin Road, and learned that the suspect, now apparently of a battery, was headed toward Coach Light Condominiums. Police caught up with the suspect about 2:45 a.m. Friday. He was transported in custody to Rolling Meadows Police Headquarters.

Rolling Meadows police are investigating whether the two incidents are related.
