An enhanced photograph colorized by William Mathis of Mathis Jones Communication was released to the police with expert commentary that the suspect may be wearing a “retro” Houston Astros baseball cap and that there might be a large second person in the back seat of the automobile.

Houston Astros hats, which have an “H” emblem, are sometimes worn by Crips members. The Crips gang; founded in Los Angeles with thousands of members nationwide involved in murder, robbery, and drug dealing; has recently surfaced in the Chapel Hill area.

The UNC Board of Trustees is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in Carson’s death. Anyone with tips should call Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515.
