Rough Rush Hour on the Roads: Five Crashes in 75 Minutes

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics (at two calls) responded to five crashes in 75 minutes at Monday’s evening rush. First a minor crash with no injuries near Belmont and Hawthorne. Second, a Ford Explorer and a Honda Civic crashed causing injuries at Northwest Highway and Dunton Avenue just before 6:00 p.m. Third, a crash with personal injuries at Orchard and Arlington Heights Road was reported just after 6:00 p.m. A silver Ford Mustang was rear-ended at the crash. The fourth crash occurred in the 300 block of North Kaspar Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. The fifth crash occurred just before 7:10 p.m. at Euclid Avenue and Belmont Avenue with no injuries reported. A witness at the scene stated that a Chrysler 300 going southbound on Belmont Avenue at Euclid Avenue blew the stop sign and broadsided a Toyota Sienna minivan at the front-left wheel. The Chrysler pushed the minivan 90 degrees and up onto the corner parkway. The minivan was headed eastbound on Euclid Avenue. The witness was going westbound on Euclid Avenue and said that the driver of the Chrysler 300 tried to squeeze between him and the oncoming minivan, and hit the minivan.
