Extra-Alarm House Fire in Mount Prospect on Cayuga Lane

Mount Prospect Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 2000 block of Cayuga Lane about 7:40 a.m. Sunday. Mount Prospect police arrived first and reported that the entire basement was on fire. Firefighters arrived and reported heavy smoke coming from a split-level single family home.

Just before 8:00 a.m. an extra-alarm was requested for a box alarm at the location near Camp McDonald and River Road. The fire was announced under control about 8:05 a.m.

Fire departments from Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Des Plaines, Glenview, North Maine, Palatine, Palatine Rural, Prospect Heights, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, and Wheeling assisted Mount Prospect Fire Department. Most fire departments were returned by 8:45 a.m.
