A solo suicide bomber hit Lt. Gen. Mushtaq Baig’s black Toyota sedan when it stopped for a red light on a busy road in Rawalpindi, a city just south of the capital on Monday.
Baig (Pakistan army’s surgeon general) died along with his driver and guard, and five civilians.
A witness saw a man into the street shortly before the explosion.
