Four-Alarm Fire on Houston Street in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, and Others Amid New York Heat Wave

RAW VIDEO: FDNY firefighters battled a blaze that sparked in Manhattan’s Lower East Side Thursday. Eight firefighters suffered minor injuries. Fire officials say the four-alarm blaze was reported around 5:36 p.m. on the roof of a building. It’s unclear how the blaze started.

Four-Alarm Fire was called for a five-story building under renovation on Houston Street.

The fire was declared under control about 7:30 p.m.

Several other fire also battled during a New York City heat wave at 60th Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard in Rego Park — a five-alarm fire — and 16-66 Bell Boulevard in Bayside — a five-alarm fire.
