Mother Hurls Toddler into Hudson River, Jumps in: Both Rescued, Mother Arrested

A woman who witnesses say hurled her toddler daughter into the chilly Hudson River on Tuesday before jumping in behind her, leading to a dramatic rescue by police officers and firefighters, has been charged with attempted murder, police said.

A mother and child were rescued then Mother Debbie Sylvia was arrested — charged with assault and reckless endangerment. CPR was administered on the 19 month-old, who is now alive in the hospital in serious condition.
