SPRINGFIELD, IL – Businesses who are applying for development assistance programs through the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) will be able to avoid duplicative paperwork, thanks to legislation sponsored by State Sen. Matt Murphy (R-Palatine).

“This initiative will enable Illinois job creators to save time, money and energy by reducing redundant paperwork requirements for tax incentives administered by DCEO,” Murphy said.

House Bill 5230 will allow businesses who take part in multiple state development assistance agreements to file a consolidated progress report, rather than multiple, duplicative reports. .

“This common-sense legislation allows our businesses to spend less time producing redundant reports and more time on creating jobs,” Murphy said.

HB 5230 passed the Senate on May 4, 2010 and now heads back to the House of Representatives and potentially to the Governor’s desk.
