Arlington Heights Resident Kyle Sievert Arrest After DUI Crash That Killed Vanessa Toby

Kyle J. Sievert, 23, of the 400 block of Happfield Drive, Arlington Heights, has been charged with felony counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence with blood-alcohol content of more than 0.08 percent. The charges resulted after a deadly crash in Crystal Lake that occurred just before midnight Saturday near Huntley Road and Waterford Cut. Sievert’s 2001 Pontiac Trans Am veered out of control and struck the front-end of a 1994 Jeep Cherokee in a northbound lane of Huntley Road. Siervert’s passenger Vanessa Toby, 24, of Schaumburg was rescued from the car, but died after being transported to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock. Sievert and two other passengers — Mariana Mitich, 28 of Hawthorn Woods and Jennifer Franklin, 25, of Mount Prospect — were were also rescued by Crystal Lake firefighter/paramedics. Jenifer Franklin Franklin was airlifted by Flight for Life helicopter to Level I Trauma Center Condell Hospital in Libertyville. Mariana Mitich and Kyle Sievert were transported to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock.

The 1994 Jeep Cherokee was driven by Mark A. Maioni, 34, of Crystal Lake. Maioni and a passenger — Kari Singer, 33 — were evaluated by paramedics at the scene and were not transported.

Crystal Lake police arrested Kyle Sievert today on a $75,000 warrant issued Monday morning and were making arrangements to transfer him to the McHenry County jail.

Too “Hates drunk assholes” It is sad that people like you say things like this before you think about all the families involved, to the family that lost a daughter, or to the family whose son was wrongly accused. Too bad it was later found that Kyle was not intoxicated and this was just a tragic accident.
