Third-Level Box Alarm Fire Destroys Crystal Lake Home

Crystal Lake Fire Department called for a box at about 10:00 p.m. and a second alarm box about 10:30 p.m. Friday after fire was first reported just before 10:00 p.m. at 3619 Berry Court. The fire apparently started in the garage and spread to the roof of the home. A third-alarm box was requested about 10:45 p.m., bringing mutual aid fire departments from Algonquin, Barrington, Carpentersville, Cary, Fox Lake, Fox River Grove, Huntley, Lake in the Hills, Lake Zurich, Marengo, McHenry, Nunda Township, Richmond, and Wonder Lake.

Multiple tenders or tankers were used to relay water to the fire scene.

The fire was struck out just after 1:00 a.m. Saturday. The Red Cross and Salvation Army also responded to the scene.

The loss the home is expected to be over 2 to 3 million dollars.
