Woodstock police were involved in a traffic stop about 6 p.m. Friday for a routine traffic violation. A white Chevy Impala with a female driver and a male passenger was stopped in the 300 block of South Madison Street, near Fremont Street less than one-half mile southeast of the Woodstock downtown town square. The male passenger, Joshua Slaten, 33, fled and was captured after a short foot pursuit. During an investigation of the vehicle, police found drug paraphernalia, products that can be used to manufacture narcotics, suspicious bottles and hoses. The fire department was called to investigate hazardous material about 6:30 p.m. An extra alarm HazMat box alarm was called which brought mutual aid from multiple fire department experts and technicians.
Joshua Slaten, who resides at 15500 block of Kishwaukee Valley Road in Woodstock was charged with felony counts of unlawful participation in methamphetamine production, possession of methamphetamine manufacturing material and possession of methamphetamine.
The female driver was not arrested on Friday.
