Mugging in Schaumburg on Pickwick Drive Near Pickwick Apartments

Schaumburg police received a report just before midnight Monday of a mugging near Pickwick Apartments in the 100 block of Pickwick Drive. A 58-year-old man suffered a serious head injury after he was mugged while he returned home from work Monday. The victim was apparently hit in the head by a blunt object.

The victim was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Schaumburg Police Department has a suspect in custody, but no charges have been filed.

The mugging occurred just over two hours after an armed robbery on the street earlier Monday. Schaumburg police received a report about 9:05 p.m. Monday of an armed robbery in the area of the 100 block of Thistle Court in Schaumburg. A male/black offender displayed a black handgun and fled with the victim’s Apple iPod and cell phone. The offender was described as a male/black 6′ 1″ thin build, wearing a blue hoodie and black jeans. The offender was last seen fleeing westbound on Stirling Lane from Knollwood Drive. The neighborhood is just northeast of Barrington Road and Schaumburg Road.

Schaumburg police were searching the area about 9 to 10 p.m.

So far, no connection between the two crimes has been reported by Schaumburg Police. The crime scenes are just over 3 miles apart.
