Mount Prospect Police Department investigators questioned an unidentified student Sunday about a threat that a gun was going to be brought to school. The alleged threat occurred on Friday. Details of the threat were not released by Prospect High School administrators.

By Monday rumors spread that there was a shooting or that there was going to be a shooting at Prospect High School, 801 West Kensington Road in Mount Prospect [MAP/SAT] and that a student was arrested. Prospect High School’s absentee rate was almost four times the normal rate on Monday even after administrators sent out e-mails and automated telephone messages Monday morning to students and parents that advised that the threat was exaggerated.

No arrests have been made and no shooting was reported, but the Mount Prospect Police Department is continuing the investigation.
