Fraudulent Activities Reported at Walmart in Palatine, and Best Buy in Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police were alert to a report of fraudulent activities in Palatine at the Walmart near Dundee Road and Rand Road about 1:10 p.m. Sunday. Palatine police reported that two male/blacks fled in a white 1996 Chevy Astro Van attempted to pass a fake traveler’s check. The van was reported heading eastbound on Dundee Road.

About 2:15 p.m. Arlington Heights police received a report from Best Buy that a black/male tried to use a false American Express check. The offender was described as a male/black, 20-26 years old, wearing a light brown work jumpsuit. He was reported to have left in a white Chevy work van.

Minutes later Palatine had one suspect in custody after a traffic stop of a white van. The subject was transported in custody to Palatine Police Department headquarters.
